Two People Accused in Alton Man's Heroin Death

By The Associated Press

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - Two people in southwestern Illinois are accused of distributing the heroin blamed in a 23-year-old man's death.  Thirty-three-year-old Tyrone Adams and 26-year-old Cara Moss of Alton are jailed without bond after being arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis. Pleas of not guilty were entered on their behalf.

An indictment returned by federal grand jurors alleges Adams and Moss distributed heroin on Aug. 20 to Leonard Hormann III of Alton. Hormann died that day.  Adams and Moss also are accused of maintaining a drug-involved premises at an Alton house between June 1 and Sept. 5 and of heroin distribution within 1,000 feet of a school.

Messages seeking comment were left Monday with their public defender.  The heroin-distribution count is punishable by up to life in prison.
