Two Killed In Motorcycle-Pickup Truck Crash In Woodlawn Friday Night

Two people on a motorcycle were killed Friday night when a pickup truck turned in front of them on Route 15 at the Woodlawn Shell Station.  

Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks says 53-year-old Billy Philpot of Vandalia and 50-year-old Debra Graham of Mt. Vernon were thrown from the cycle and were pronounced dead on the scene at 9:58 Friday night from blunt force trauma.  

The driver of the pickup truck was a 40-year-old Woodlawn man.  However, State Police have not released his name.  He was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital after initial treatment at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.  

Marks says the pickup driver was eastbound when he apparently started to make a left hand turn into the Shell Station near Woodlawn Lane and pulled into the path of the westbound motorcycle.  The wreck occurred around 9:18 Friday night.
