Southwestern Illinois Man Found Dead in Ditch Likely Hit-and-Run Victim
COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Police believe a southwestern Illinois man found dead in a roadside ditch this week was likely the victim of a hit-and-run.
Twenty-two-year-old Anthony Connors of Collinsville was found Wednesday night by a jogger. The Belleville News-Democrat reports that the man's body had apparently been lying in the ditch for several days.
Assistant police Chief Tom Coppotelli says Connors was last seen about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. Coppotelli says authorities recovered pieces of a vehicle that had been left lying near the ditch early Sunday. Collinsville police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
