Southern Illinois Woman Gets 50 Years for Killing ManMARION, Ill. (AP) - A southern Illinois woman has been sentenced to a half century in prison for her role in the 2011 shooting death of a man. A Williamson County judge on Tuesday sentenced 36-year-old Kate Bodie of Herrin after she pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
State's Attorney Chuck Garnati says Bodie will be required to serve her entire 50-year sentence in the May 2011 killing of 73-year-old Charles James of Herrin. Two other defendants - James' daughter, 53-year-old Cindy Stearns, and 16-year-old Josh Dallacosta - have pleaded not guilty and await trial. Prosecutors have yet to reveal a motive for James' murder.
