Shattuc Man Pleads Guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault ChargeA 35-year-old Shattuc man has pleaded guilty to a Class 'X' charge of predatory criminal sexual assault. Jerry Biegeleisen entered the plea as jury selection was scheduled to begin in Clinton County Court on Tuesday. As part of the plea agreement, four other counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of criminal sexual assault were dropped.
Clinton County Assistant State's Attorney Dan Markwell says Biegeleisen faces six to 60 years in prison when sentenced on the charge March 6th by Judge Dennis Middendorff. He reports the plea was made without any conditions on the sentence Biegeleisen would receive. Markwell says all of the counts involved the same family member who was under the age of 18. The count that Biegeleisen pleaded guilty claimed the sexual assault acts occurred from June 1st, 2008 to August 17th, 2011.
Biegeleisen was taken into custody on the charges last September. He had originally been released on $100,000 bond, but was later taken back into custody following bond violations and was being held in lieu of $2.5-million dollar bond.
