Sandoval School Board Approves Plans for School Bids

By Will Doolin, WJBD News

Concerns over Sandoval Elementary School were on the minds of some at the Sandoval School Board meeting Monday night.  The Board approved the authorization to release plans and specifications developed by Design Architects.  The plans will be released to contractors for bidding on the roof repairs and restoration at Sandoval Elementary School.  The district is currently in the process of designing a new elementary school.  Voters approved a two-million-dollar bond issue that will pay the 25-percent local share of the cost of building a new grade school last year.

In other Board action, the Board approved the request by Jason Butts to address the Board regarding adding the Amateur Trap Shooting Association AIM program to the school district's extracurricular activities.  The Board approved consent agenda items, bills and payrolls, and the second reading of board policies.

In personnel action, the Board approved action on the dismissal of secretary Teresa Cooksey.  The Board approved the request for Scott Johnson to serve as the High Schools Boys' Basketball Volunteer Assistant Coach.  The Board approved Superintendent Jennifer Garrison as a designated representative of the Board Secretary for the April 9th, 2013 school board elections.
