Sandoval Fire Holds BanquetThe Sandoval Fire Department took some time Saturday to honor its firefighters for dedication 2012. The department responded to 650 calls last year, 137 fire calls and 513 EMS. Eighteen of the calls were for structure fires. Gary Speagle was the top responder with 266 on scene calls.
Codie Melton was named the Firefighter of the Year while Trey Gambill was presented with the Tom Nicolay EMT of the Year award. Others honored included Kinmundy-Alma Fire Chief Kevin Day. Day was honored for his dedication and service for going above and beyond in his duties as a representative of Towers Fire Sales and service. Julie Crippen was honored for her work with the annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Toys For Tots drive and retired Chief JD Gore for his 27 years of service to the department. Three firefighters were honored for their many years of service. Shea Hodge was honored for five years, Ben Beckmann for six, and Shaun Lance for ten years with the department.
