Salem Woman Hurt In Two Vehicle Crash in Clinton County
A 35-year-old Salem woman was injured in a two car crash on U.S. 50 at the Shattuc Road in Clinton County early Thursday night.The Clinton County Sheriff's Department reports a car driven by Krystal Bryant of Northwood Lane was traveling on U.S. 50 when her car was struck by 19-year-old Thomas Smith of State Route 37 in Salem when he turned east onto U.S. 50. The impact caused Bryant's car to skid out of control across the east bound lane into the roadside ditch.
Bryant was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia for treatment of injuries. Sheriff's Deputies say Smith didn't stop and left the scene. He reportedly returned after driving 20 miles to a friend's house in Salem.
Smith was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The wreck occurred at 5:09 Thursday evening.
