Salem Trick or Treat Night and Halloween Costume Contest October 30thTuesday, October 30th will be a spooky night in Salem as neighborhood trick-or-treating in downtown Salem will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for kids ages 12 and under. Merchants are encouraged to be in front of their business and distribute goodies to the trick-or-treaters.
The city's recreation department will be hosting their annual costume contest as well. Registration will begin at 5 p.m., with judging taking place at 5:30 p.m. in the Marion County Courthouse parking lot on North Broadway in Salem, just south of the Medicine Shoppe.
Prizes will be awarded for best costumes in the following divisions: three-years-old & younger, ages four through seven years of age, and ages eight through twelve. In addition, Keep Salem Beautiful will awarding prizes for costumes created from recycled materials.
