Salem Police Say Man Who Hit ATM Lost Consciousness Before Accident

Salem Police say a 48-year-old Centralia man may have temporarily lost consciousness late Monday morning before hitting an ATM Machine in the parking lot of the Spectra Shopping Center next to the Salem Super Wal-mart store.  

Reports indicate Steven Rupe of Joy Lane had started to feel light headed when traveling on West Main Street and decided to pull into the entrance to the shopping center behind Kentucky Fried Chicken.  His car then hit and came to rest against the ATM machine, causing minor damage to both.  

Rupe was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of the medical condition.  

The wreck occurred at 11:45 Monday morning.
