Salem Mayer Declares Salem Kiwanis Peanut Days Sales This Month
Salem Mayor John Raymer signed a proclamation Tuesday, declaring the days from October 4th thru October 27th as Salem Kiwanis "Peanut Days Sales".
During those dates, the Kiwanis Club members will be soliciting contributions from local businesses through the sale of boxes of peanuts. On October 26th and October 27th, Kiwanis members will be selling bags of peanuts at the Marion County Savings Bank Drive-Up windows and the Salem IGA. The Salem Kiwanis Club will use the money raised from the "Peanut Days" sales to purchase shoes and socks for children from local area schools at Christmas time.
The Salem Kiwanis also elected new officer for the 2012-2013 school year. Pat Hall was elected as Secretary, Mary Duis was elected as Vice-President, Barney Bruce as President, and Joyce Bruce as Treasurer. The Salem Kiwanis welcomed new member Mona Watson to the organization.
