Salem Man Charged for Criminal Sexual Assault

Bond has been set at $100,000 for a 19-year-old Salem man formally charged in Marion County Court on Wednesday with two counts of criminal sexual assault.  Both counts against Roy Cochran surround a Sunday incident where he allegedly forced a 19-year-old girl to have sex with him.  The assault allegedly occurred during a party at a home on the Tonti Road in rural Salem.  After reporting the incident to the sheriff's department the next day, the woman went to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.  Cochran had the public defender appointed to represent him and was ordered to have no contact with the woman if released on bond.
