Salem Lions Club Making Plans to Host Post PromFinal preparations are underway for the Salem High School Post Prom.
The Salem Lion's Club is once again sponsoring the event from one to four Saturday morning following the Friday night Prom. Club President Phil Martin says there will be a DJ, inflatables, and something new this year, a Photo Booth sponsored by R and G Photography. He reports the goal is to provide a safe and drug free place for students to go after prom.
Martin says they'll be encouraged to stay by a lot of prize giveaways. "As always we have Larry Rogers and his funeral home has donated a cash prize we have always given out at the end. He's raised that by $100 this year and we'll split that now and we'll give two $300 cash prizes to students. The Rankin Funeral Home are donating $500 to a student. Those are really big projects. We then give out electronics and other things the kids would take to college with them and need in a dorm room. A couple refrigerators, flat screen TV, some iPod accessories and thinks like that.
Martin says the event is free of charge to the students. He says the Lion's Club is hoping to raise an additional $700 to $800 to pay for the event. Anyone who can help is encouraged to call Scott Steward at Salem Community High School at 548-0727. Steward says the business community has been great in supporting the Post Prom that has been held for more than 40 years.
