Rural Belle Rive Home Destroyed By Fire
Jefferson Rural Firemen say the single story home that at one time was a one room school house was fully engulfed in flames and on the ground when the blaze was spotted by a neighbor. The home owner Vickey Nichols and her children were not at home at the time. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. There were no injuries.
Belle Rive firemen were initially dispatched because the home was thought to be in their district. Jefferson Rural Firemen were called after it was determined the home was actually in their jurisdiction. Webber Township Firefighters from Bluford were also called for mutual aide.
The fire call came in at 3:12 Wednesday afternoon. The blaze was under control at 4:29 pm with firemen clearing the scene at seven Wednesday night.
