Road Work Planned On Route 161 Monday

Expect some delays on Monday if you travel Route 161 from Woods Lane in Centralia to Interstate 57.

Daytime lane closures will occur Monday, weather permitting.  The Illinois Department of Transportation reports work is anticipated to be completed before the end of the day on Monday.  The lane closures are necessary to construct rumble strips on the shoulders.

Signing and traffic control devices will be utilized during the lane closures to assist motorist through the work zone.  The Department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout the work zone.

The project is being completed by the Kilian Corporation of Mascoutah.  Steve Putz is the Supervising Field Engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation in the area.  If you have any questions concerning the project, you may contact Putz at 346-3350.
