Recycling Bin Returning to Salem On Monday

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

Keep Salem Beautiful has announced the new recycling bin will arrive on Monday.

Unlike the past, it will no longer be on the Marion County Parking Lot on North Broadway all the time.  The bin will be brought in for the first full week of the month.  If the demand warrants, the recycling center will be brought back during the third week of each month.

Keep Salem Beautiful President Rita Black says the new recycle bin will be a single stream, with no separation of items required. The new center will accept cardboard, aluminum, newspapers, as well as #1 and #2 plastics.  No glass will be accepted at anytime.  A sign will be posted at the site for the restrictions required by the company that will provide the bin.

Black says KSB apologizes for the inconvenience of not having the recycling bins for several months.  She realizes this is a new journey and many questions will arise.  Anyone with questions can contact Black at 548-0215.  Please leave a message to be returned for any further questions.
