Quinn, Rauner to March in Ill. State Fair ParadeSPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Candidates in the Illinois governor's race will be among those in Springfield to kick off the Illinois State Fair.
The campaigns of both Democrat Gov. Pat Quinn and Republican businessman Bruce Rauner say the candidates will participate in the annual Twilight parade. It steps off Thursday at 6 p.m.
Parade grand marshal is Kevin McKee, a member of the U.S.'s gold medal-winning Paralympic sled hockey team.
Carnival rides will be open Thursday evening and will have discounted ticket prices during the fair's Preview Night.
The 500-pound butter cow sculpture is also set to be unveiled at the Dairy Building on the fairgrounds Thursday afternoon.
Built from scratch each year, the cow has been an unofficial mascot of the fair since the 1920s.
This year's fair is Aug. 7-17.
