Quinn: Closing Murray Center And Other Facilities 'Right Thing to Do'
Quinn spoke Tuesday following a rally with about 100 people who support his efforts to move disabled residents from institutions to community settings. He says closing Murray Developmental Center in Centralia and other institutions is the right thing to do and will save the state money. He says "we're going to get it done and done right, right now."
Parents of some Murray residents have filed a federal lawsuit to stop or delay the closure. They're concerned residents won't get the care they need in a new setting.
Quinn has closed two other state-operated developmental centers since he took office.
