Police Probe Death Of Newborn Thrown From House

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in East St. Louis are investigating the death of a newborn baby who was allegedly thrown out the second floor window of a house. 

East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore says a woman in her 20s gave birth to a baby boy at home on Friday and then allegedly wrapped him in sheets and threw him out the window. Floore says the woman called police just before 11 p.m. on Friday.

The woman's name was not released. 

The autopsy results for the baby are pending.

No charges have yet been filed. The St. Clair County Child Death Investigation team is investigating.
