Police Beat for Thursday, May 23rd, 2013A 40-year-old Centralia man was arrested for felony theft by CSX Railroad Police and Marion County Sheriff's Deputies on Wednesday. Deputies report Michael Wheat of Community Beach Road allegedly had a stolen intermodal trailer owned by CSX on his property. Wheat said he bought the trailer from another man and didn't know it was stolen. CSX officials say the intermodal unit was taken from East St. Louis. They later received telephone tips about its whereabouts.
A 27-year-old Centralia man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop. Dustin Keeley of Melrose Drive eventually had to be ordered to stop his vehicle at gunpoint after he pulled into a private drive off Route 37. The incident occurred after Deputies had received a complaint about Keeley's driving and had clocked him going 76 miles per hour in a 55 mile zone. Keeley faces charge of driving on a suspended licence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis.
Three others remain in custody on outstanding warrants. 48-year-old Patrick Lyons of West Poplar in Odin was arrested by State Police on an outstanding felony warrant. 29-year-old Lori Yarbrough of Mitchell Street in Wamac and 32-year-old Joyce Barnes of North Maple in Centralia both later posted bond and were released.
