Police Beat for Sunday, December 9th, 2012Illinois State Police had extra troopers on duty in Marion County Saturday night and made three driving under the influence arrests. 51-year-old William Reid Junior of Farthing Road in Odin remained in the Marion County Jail Sunday morning for alleged DUI. 19-year-old Karlisa Harris of Park Forest was ticketed for driving under the influence of drugs and 28-year-old John Arnold of North Main Street in Odin for DUI. They both were released after posting $100 bond.
State Police arrested 18-year-old Ashley Bates of Shattuc Road in rural Centralia for alleged possession of cannabis. She remained in jail Sunday morning.
Marion County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two person when responding to a report of a disturbance at the home of 28-year-old Matthew Ellis on Front Street in Iuka. Ellis remains in jail for alleged domestic battery. 47-year-old Sharon Helton of North Avenue in Iuka posted $50 bond and was released for battery. The original caller, Andrea Allison, told deputies that Ellis had thrown her around the house and choked her. Allison was able to get to a neighbor's home to call police.
Sandoval Police arrested a 39-year-old Chicago resident, Sherman Jones, for driving on a suspended license. Jones posted $150 bond and was released.
