Police Beat for Monday, January 21st, 2013
27-year-old Nathan McCormick of South Brookside in Centralia was arrested by Wamac Police Sunday morning for alleged possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing justice for destroying evidence. He remained in the Marion County Jail Monday morning.
42-year-old Cathern Downes of South James in Centralia was arrested by Salem Police for alleged felony retail theft. She was taken into custody at the Super Wal-mart.
Two others remained in custody Monday morning after being arrested on outstanding warrants. 24-year-old Brian Burks of Herrin was arrested on an outstanding DUI warrant and 24-year-old Brian Mathrusse of South Franklin in Salem an outstanding Fayette County warrant.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of some cash in the seat of a truck owned by Dennis Rivermann of Breese while he was at the Sandoval Laundromat on Sunday. Some juveniles were reportedly seen entering Rivermann's truck and running from the area.
