Police Beat for Monday, January 13th, 2014Salem Police arrested a 20-year-old Iuka man Sunday afternoon for driving under the influence of drugs. Police say they initially spotted Brandon Schippel of Green Road urinating in Bryan Memorial Park during a routine patrol. Schippel was taken to the Marion County Jail where he later posted $100 bond and was released.
A 29-year-old Salem man remained in custody at the Marion County Jail on Monday for retail theft at the Salem Wal-mart Store. Salem Police say Quinton Nix of East Mitchell was allegedly spotted by Wal-mart loss prevention taking items from the store on Saturday. After a review of video surveillance, police went to Nix' home on Sunday and arrested him.
A 46-year-old Sandoval man was arrested by Marion County Sheriff's Deputies for driving on a revoked license after they received a complaint of ATV's operating on streets in Sandoval. Wally Kaufman of South Locust later posted $100 bond and was released.
