Odin Man Charged With Open Dumping in Rural IukaA 64-year-old Odin man has been charged in Marion County Court with a misdemeanor charge of criminal disposal of waste.
William Burr of South Merritt is accused of conducting open dumping of waste in violation of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations. He allegedly dumped construction waste on property at 7404 Calvert Road in rural Iuka.
Marion County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Burr after allegedly spotting him dumping remains of some old mobile homes he was scrapping. The property is the same one the EPA cleaned up in 2007 after waste had spilled out of the property onto the county road.
Burr was released from the Marion County Jail after posting $250 bond. He told the court he would try and obtain his own attorney.
