Missouri Trucker Killed in I-70 Accident Near St. ElmoA 50-year-old Missouri truck driver was killed in an early Tuesday morning wreck on Interstate 70 in Fayette County.
State Police say Royce Horton of Highlandville, Missouri was westbound on I-70 three miles west of St. Elmo when he left the road, entered the center median and overturned one and a half time.
Horton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger, 55-year-old Maurice Horton of Highlandville, Missouri, received major injuries. Maurice Horton was first taken to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham and later airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana.
The crash occurred at 3:36 Tuesday morning.
