Menard Prison Inmate Death 'Suspicious'
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The death of an inmate at Menard Correctional Center in southern Illinois has been termed "suspicious." Randolph County Coroner Randy Dudenbostel says an autopsy is scheduled for the male prisoner found dead Thursday night.Dudenbostel says an investigation has begun. He wouldn't release any other information while authorities try to contact family members. The Illinois Department of Corrections released a statement saying the inmate was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m. Thursday. It says the Corrections Department and Illinois State Police officials are investigating.
A spokesman says the prison agency has no further comment.
