Marion County Jury Decides Six-Year-Old Case
12/13/2012 @ 9:18 AMA Marion County Jury Tuesday ruled in favor of the defense in a case involving a car accident that occurred six-years ago. A jury found that the defendant, Patrick Carr and the Purcell Electric Company, was not at fault in an April 2006 vehicle collision that occurred on West Main Street and Vincent in Salem. Carla Akes was suing Carr and the electric company, claiming she was rear ended by Carr when stopped in traffic. Akes said the defendant was speeding and failed to see her, causing the accident and losing control of his vehicle. The defense claimed the plaintiff was not stopped in traffic as she had said, but did admit to rear-ending her. No monetary amount was awarded in the case.
