Marion County Fair Queen To Be Honored At Sunday Afternoon ReceptionMarion County Fair Queen Ashton Burroughs will be honored with a reception Sunday afternoon. Burroughs recently finished in the Top 15 at the State Fair Queen competition in Springfield.
"My experience was amazing. You got to meet these amazing girls. I got to spend time with the most amazing directors. The Marion County 4H and Fair Board that all came up watch me along with my family. Just the support I got will stick with me forever," said Burroughs.
Burroughs spoke during the competition about being placed into the position of a role model by younger 4-H members. "It's amazing. You start out and you are just thinking you don't know if you want to do it. But once you get into that experience and just how much confidence and leadership you develop and how you do become such a role model, I think every girl should try it," said Burroughs.
Burroughs says she was extremely honored to be picked among the Top 15 candidates out of the 72 fair queens entered from around the state. The reception will be held from two to four Sunday afternoon at the Marion County Fair Exhibit building.
