Little Egypt Festival Ready to Kick Off Saturday

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

Everything is set for the Little Egypt Festival in Salem on Saturday.  General Chair Dennis Wilkinson says activity begins early in the morning and runs through the end of the parade.  "The car show should be big.  Everyone should remember that they did move the car show from the park out to the old Wal-Mart parking lot because the park is possibly going to be muddy, and we want to tell everybody that they are not going to have the Great American K-9 contest this year in the park at 10:00.  So we had to drop that.  At 11:00, there will be the children's activities downtown, the world's famous big wheel races and bring all the kids out from ages three-to-seven", said Wilkinson.

Wilkinson says the sign up for the car show will be from 7 to 11, with judging as you arrive.  The show runs through one.  Those wanting to ride in the parade will then be able to get in line at Bryan Memorial Park.  There will also be a horse show at one at the Franklin Park School Athletic Field.  There will be arts and crafts around the courthouse square from eight am until parade time.  There will also be plenty of food vendors around the courthouse square.  Those in the parade are asked to line up beginning at 12:30 in Bryan Memorial Park and be in place by 1:15 for a preview by the judges.  You can see the line up for the parade by going to the parade information icon on the front page of WJBDradio.com.
