By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

Today is Labor Day....a federal, state and local government holiday.

Area courthouses and Salem and Centralia City Halls will be closed.  Garbage pickup in Salem will be on the regular schedule, with pickup on Monday.  In Centralia, there will be no garbage or landscape waste pickup on Monday, with pickup being one day late the rest of the week.   There will be no home mail delivery and financial institutions will be closed.

The Kinmundy Lion's Labor Day Homecoming is set for Monday.  It begins with a breakfast of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage from six to nine at the Kinmundy Community Center.

A 5k run will be held at 8:00 Monday morning.  A chicken dinner lasting between 11:00am and 1:00pm is planned for the Kinmundy Community Center building.

The parade steps off at two Monday afternoon.  Entries for the parade can be registered at the west side of the park with entry for horses at the fire station. All entries must be in place by 1:30pm.
