Keep Salem Beautiful Obtains Grant to Help Paint Activity CenterKeep Salem Beautiful has obtained a $2,050 grant that has been used to purchase paint for the Salem Community Activity Center. KSB Coordinator Jane Marshall and Salem Community Activity Center President Don Ruston made the announcement. Marshall says the grant awards through Keep America Beautiful are being used to purchase paint that features innovative raw materials provided by Dow Coating Materials.
"I was notified that they had paint available, so I called Ruston, and asked if they could use some paint for the Activity Center, and he said 'yes', so he helped me write the grant, and to our surprise, they granted it" said Marshall.
Ruston explains how the paint will be used.
"we've been needing to repaint the cafeteria and lower part of the gymnasium, as well as several other rooms that will get a fresh coat of paint" said Ruston.
Ruston says it has been ten years since the center has been repainted. Ruston worked with the owner of Salem hardware, Matt Caruth, to order the Sherwin-Williams Harmony Paint. Dow is in its seventh year as a national sponsor of the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup.
