Keep Salem Beautiful Closes Recycling Center; Looks For New Location
The recycling center in the 200 block of North Broadway in Salem has been closed until further notice.Keep Salem Beautiful Executive Director Jane Marshall says they are currently looking for a new location for the drop-off bins. The company that picks up the recyclables, Secure Processors/Clay County Industries of Flora, is having difficulties in removing and loading the collected items from the current location.
Marshall says the perfect location would be one where the bins would be outside, with an opening into a building at the rear of the bins to allow removal of the recyclables with a fork lift. She has a few locations in mind, but nothing has been finalized.
Marshall hopes the recycling center will be able to reopen in its new location within two to three weeks. She thanks everyone for their patience and continued support of recycling.
