Kaskaskia College Season of Entertainment Announced

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

Kaskaskia College has announced its 2014-15 Season of Entertainment Guest Artist and Speaker Series.

The season begins on Saturday, October 18th, at 7:30 pm when American English returns to the Jane Knight Auditorium with a special show honoring the 50th anniversary of the Beatles.

A holiday musical for the entire family, "Mooseltoe: A New Moosical" will be held on Friday, December 5th at 7:30 pm.  The performance is the story of a young hero, Mooseltoe, who leaves his mother, father and sister to follow his dream of learning to fly so that he can help pull Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve.

Country music recording star Lorrie Morgan will be at the college on Sunday, December 14th, at 3 pm.  Her performance will include selections from her 'Merry CHristmas From London' album as well as traditional Christmas songs and a number of her career hits.

On February 20th at 7:30 pm, Kaskaskia College welcomes Presidio Brass:  Sounds of the Cinema.

One of North America's top professional storm-chasers and severe weather experts, Greg Johnson, will share his passion for capturing nature's most beautiful and deadly displays of severe weather when he comes to Kaskaskia College on Friday, March 27th at 7:30 pm.

You can celebrate an afternoon of music and good times with 'The Official Blues Brothers Revue' on Sunday, August 12th, at 3:00 pm.

The season concludes on May 9th at 7:30 pm as Kaskaskia College celebrates the magic of the Great White Way through dazzling production numbers performed by the next generation of Broadway stars with the presentation of How to Succeed on Broadway.

Co-Chair Travis Henson hopes the popularity of the Season of Entertainment will continue to grow as it did last year.

"Last year we had about 5,000 people attend, which was a 20% increase over the previous year, which used to be our biggest year. People have come from over 150 communities in Illinois and even from out of state" said Henson.

In addition, Henson says 17 area schools participated in the 'Scrap Art' program that kicked off last year's season.

Season tickets for the 2014-15 series are on sale now.  Season subscribers save 20 percent off individual ticket prices and will have reserved seating at each event.  Individual event tickets will go on sale on September 15th.  For more information, or to purchase tickets, please call the KC box office at 545-32-23.  Additional information is available on the website at www.kaskaskia.edu/soe.
