Kaskaskia College Named A "Tree Campus USA College" By Arbor Day FoundationKaskaskia College has been named a "Tree Campus USA" college for the third year in a row. The college earned the recognition for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship. The college is one of 113 colleges and universities to receive recognition for 2013.
The college met the five core standards of tree care and community engagement in order to receive the recognition. The standards include establishing a campus tree advisory committee, having a campus tree-care plan, observing Arbor Day, and other criteria. Tree Campus USA is a national program of the Arbor Day Foundation that honors colleges and universities for managing their campus forests and other activities. More information on the Foundation and its programs can be found at www.arborday.org.
The college has an Arboretum, a vital ongoing project. The public is invited to visit KC and see the location of all trees in the Arboretum.
