Hay Bale Fire in Rural Texico Thursday
Jefferson County Rural Firemen were called out twice Thursday afternoon and evening to fight a fire in 95 bales of hay on the John Howard farm at 16,545 East Devide Road in rural Texico. The fire apparently started from a tractor backfire. Howard was able to pull three rows of hay away from a barn which assisted firemen in keeping the fire away from the building. The hay bales were allowed to burn themselves out. Estimated damage is placed at $4,500. Firemen were first called out at two Thursday afternoon. They remained on the scene for three hours and then were called back again at 5:30 and remained on the scene for an additional hour.See other LocalNews news:
