GOP State Rep: Selling Planes Good Step Toward Fiscal HonestyBoth Governor Quinn and his GOP rival Bruce Rauner want to sell of part of the state's plane fleet to save a bit of money. That's an idea that state rep Bill Mitchell has suggested for years. He says it won't do much to fill the state's budget hole but it's not something we should be paying for.
"Everyone knows that we're not going to balance the state budget on the executive aircraft plea if we sell that but it was just an agregious abuse of taxpayer dollars." says Mitchell
Mitchell says the state's budget will always still be billions-of-dollars-out-of-whack until Illinois deals with the big expenses like Medicaid, pensions, and education funding.
