Food for Fines at Centralia Regional Library District Starting Sunday

By Will Doolin, WJBD News

The Centralia Regional Library District has announced that starting on Sunday, February 10th, they will waive fines for library patrons and support local food pantries at the same time.  Anyone with outstanding overdue fines may bring a donation of new/unopened boxed and canned food products to have overdue fines forgiven.  The programs ends on Saturday, February 23rd.

Fines will be forgiven at a rate of one-dollar per donated food item for one to five items, six food items can gain amnesty for ten-dollars in fines, and seven items can be traded for $15 in fines.  Donations are not valid for lost or damaged items, printing costs, or other miscellaneous fees.  Only new items which have not expired and are unopened will be accepted.  The library reserves the right to refuse any item.

Donations may be dropped off during regular library hours.  Hours at the Centralia Library are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.  Libraries in Odin, Sandoval, Hoffman, and Irvington will also be accepting food donations.  For more information on the program and other library services, call the main library at 532-5222 during regular library hours.
