Fifth Third Bank in Mt. Vernon Hit By Robber Late Saturday MorningAnother bank robbery has been reported in Mt. Vernon.
The robbery at the Fifth Third Bank at 2711 Broadway occurred around 11 Saturday morning. Mt. Vernon Police say an undisclosed amount of money was taken by a lone black male who entered the bank with no covering over his face. No one was injured. No other details are currently being released about the hold up.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Mt. Vernon Police at 242-2727.
The bank robbery is the fourth in Jefferson County since late November. Three people have been arrested with robberies at the Community First Bank of the Heartland in Woodlawn on November 27th and the Jefferson County Schools Credit Union in Mt. Vernon on December 10th. The December robbery at GENFED Credit Union on South 42nd Street remains under investigation.
