Employee of O'Reilly Auto Parts In Salem Charged With TheftA 25-year-old Vernon man has been charged with felony theft in Marion County Court in connection with the alleged theft of $4,605.65 from his employer O'Reilly Auto Parts in Salem.
Marion County State's Attorney Matt Wilzbach says the money was allegedly taken over the past year by Daniel Martin of West Lair Street. He reports an internal investigation by the company showed that Martin would ring in a part as originally sold and then returned. Martin would then allegedly pocket the money from the so called 'returns'.
Wilzbach says when confronted by the District Manager and prevention loss specialist, Martin allegedly admitted to all 54 receipts in question over the past year. Salem Police were then called and Martin taken into custody.
Bond for Martin was set at $10,000. He indicated he would hire his own attorney. Martin is due back in court for a first appearance with counsel on August 7th.
