Durbin, Simon Tour Tornado-Damaged AreasWASHINGTON, Ill. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon have visited tornado-damaged areas of Illinois.
Durbin toured Washington on Friday and Simon was in Gifford and Brookport. He met with state and local leaders in Washington and toured some of the area's hard-hit neighborhoods. He says the damage is the worst he's seen.
Simon urged Illinois residents to donate to recovery efforts. She says the work in the storm-damaged areas "is just beginning."
