Drunk Driver Blamed For Clay County Crash That Injured Three

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

Three people were injured in a late Friday morning crash in Clay County.

State Police say the wreck occurred on U.S. 50 on the east edge of Flora.  An SUV driven by 44-year-old Timothy Hightower of Xenia was westbound on U.S. 50 when it crossed the centerline and the eastbound lane before striking a disabled pickup truck parked on the eastbound shoulder head on.  The driver of the pickup, 51-year-old Jamey Tolliver of Clay City, was sitting in the truck when the crash occurred.

Both drivers along with a passenger in the Hightower SUV, 34-year-old Shane Hightower of West Salem, were all taken to the Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment of major injuries.

Hightower was ticketed for driving under the influence and improper lane usage.  State Police say other charges are pending.

The crash occurred at 11:10 Friday morning.
