Dix Woman Injured in Salem Accident Wednesday Morning
Reports indicate 71-year-old Joyce Simmons of Dix was stopped at the stop sign waiting to make a turn onto West Main when her car was hit in the rear by a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Jerald Bergbower of Newton. Bergbower told police he thought Simmons had started to make the turn when he struck Simmons in the rear.
Both Simmons and a passenger in her car, 39-year-old Christy Piercy-Winchester of Dix, were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment. Bergbower was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The wreck occurred at 9:16 Wednesday morning.
