Corps of Engineers Reopen Recreation Areas At Carlyle Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake have reopened all seasonal campgrounds and boat ramps following the end of the federal government shutdown.

The Corps reports all boat ramps, day use areas, outlying parking lots, and the Dam West, McNair and East Spillway Campgrounds have all reopened.  The Dam West and McNair Campgrounds will remain open through 12:00 noon, Sunday, November 3rd, when they would normally close for the winter season.  The Dam East Campground will remain open year round.  The Boulder and Coles Creek Campgrounds are already closed for the season.  Eldon Hazlet State Park has remained open through the government shutdown and will remain open.   All existing campground reservations will be honored.

Other Corps of Engineer facilities in Illinois are also reopening their facilities Thursday.
