City of Salem Accepts Bids for Road Resurfacing, Sewer Repair

North Shelby Street between Main and Boone Street in Salem will soon be resurfaced.  The Salem City Council Monday night gave approval to a bid from Howell Paving of Salem to complete the work for $108,369.  That's 25-percent under the engineers estimate.  

The city council approved a contract with Currey and Associates Engineers of Nashville to design a sewer line replacement on a portion of North Hamilton and an adjoining area of Olive Street.  The old concrete sewer line has shown signs of failure.  Money for the replacement is in this year's budget.
