City of Centralia Announces 2013 Burn WeekendsThe City of Centralia announced the burn weekends for 2013. The first weekend to burn will be on Saturday, January 5th and Sunday, January 6th from Noon to 6 p.m. Burning regulations in Centralia define "landscape waste" to include dry leaves, trimmings from trees and shrubs, tree limbs and branches, vines and the like. The City says the burning of grass clippings, green trimmings or branches or wet leaves are not allowed.
Even on weekends when burning is legal, the City encourages residents to avoid burning by instead using the leaf removal and yard waste collection services. City officials say using those services will help persons in the community who are adversely affected by smoke.
Recreational fires are allowed for entertainment and to cook, but require a permit issued by the City Fire Department. This permit costs 5-dollars and must be applied for in writing.
The following are legal burn dates for 2013:
Nov 30-Dec 1
There is no open burning during July and August.
