Centralia Teen Crashes Car Into Tree In Central CityA 17-year-old Centralia woman has been airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital following a one car crash on South Commercial Street in Central City late Saturday night.
Central City Police Chief Mike Berger says Ariel Davenport of South Walnut appeared to have been traveling at an excessive speed when her car went out control and struck a tree on the east side of the road. Davenport's car bounced off the tree, flipped twice, and landed on its wheels in the middle of the Commercial and Hardin Street intersection.
While Davenport was not trapped in her car, the Centralia Fire Protection District was called to help get her out of the vehicle because of a suspected head injury. Davenport was initially taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia and then airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital. Berger was told her condition was improving Sunday morning.
Tickets are pending in the crash. The wreck occurred at 10:58 Saturday night.
