Centralia Police Make Arrest In Rash of Vehicle Thefts and BurglariesCentralia Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile boy from Centralia in connection with three car thefts and multiple vehicle burglaries.
The boy was arrested outside his mother's home Friday morning after allegedly running from one of the stolen cars as police approached. Police report the boy had parked the car in the yard earlier and had driven back to the home in a second stolen vehicle. He was apprehended following a short foot chase.
The parked vehicle was reportedly taken from Chelsey Snell of South Poplar Street in Centralia. Police say the vehicle the boy was allegedly driving had been taken from the rural Irvington area after a third vehicle the boy is believed to have stolen was found wrecked on U.S. 51 south of Centralia near the John Deere implement dealership.
The 16-year-old is believed to be responsible for at least two Thursday night vehicle burglaries. Police eventually hope to link him to a number of other recent car burglaries that have occurred in Centralia. The juvenile is being held in detention pending court action.
Further details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
