Centralia Man Involved in Downstate Crash Thursday Afternoon
A Centralia man was involved in a personal injury crash in southern Illinois Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred on Interstate-57 southbound at mile post 72.5 north of Benton in Franklin County at 12:26 p.m. Robert Hayes of Centralia was stopped in traffic on I-57 southbound in the right lane due to road construction. Trent Earnheart of West Frankfort failed to reduce speed and struck Hayes in the rear. Hayes was not injured. Earnheart was transported to Franklin County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The interstate was shut down to one-lane for an hour and a half before reopening.See other LocalNews news:
