Centralia Man Arrested on Drug ChargesA 22-year-old Centralia man has been arrested by Centralia Police and taken to the Marion County Jail for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and cannabis.
Vincent Shanks of West Ralston was taken into custody after police investigated a suspicious vehicle in the rear parking lot of the Poplar Place. Police approached the vehicle after seeing the dome light on and three people inside the car. Shanks reportedly was trying to inhale the cocaine at the time and threw the baggie containing the drug out of the car. A box of cigarettes with a small amount of cannabis was later found in the vehicle.
The other two occupants of the car were released without being charged after Shanks said the cannabis was his and they were not involved. Shanks claimed to have found the cocaine and decided to try it.
