Centralia High Student Named Commended Student in 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program

By Will Doolin, WJBD News

A Centralia High School student has received a national recognition.  Principal Reid Shipley announced Wednesday that Annamarie Beckmeyer has been named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.  A letter of commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will be presented by Shipley to Beckmeyer.

About 34,000 commended students nationally are being recognized by NMSC.  They do not continue in the 2013 competition for the scholarship awards.  However they are placed among the top five-percent of more than 1.5 million students who enter the competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
